The Artemis Project is a research team focused on the honeynet technology, compromised by several security researchers from the InfoSec Lab., Institute of Computer Science and Technology, Peking University , China . The project is based on the principles and guidelines given by the Honeynet Project, and issued the request for Honeynet Research Alliance, and have become the first member of the alliance in China . The practice and research topics of The Artemis Project includes: • Keep up with the latest technology of honeypot and honeynet, deploy and maintain our honeynet. Thoroughly analyze the attacks and malwares captured by our deployed honeynet. Deepen our understanding of the technology of honeypot and honeynet, as well as the latest Internet security threats. • Capturing the spreading malwares by deploy physical honeypot and automatic malware collectors, followed with thoroughly analyzing, for the purpose of establishing standardization and automatic procedure of studying how to capture and analyze the malwares. Especially for discovering, tracking and retorting Botnet. • Focus on the core requirement of the honeynet technology – Data Analysis, research the honeynet data statistical analysis and correlation analysis methods, and develop the data analysis tools for honeynet. At present, the honeynet which the Artemis Project has deployed integrated with the Gen III honeynet framework advanced by the Honeynet Project recently , virtual honeypot system using honeyd and mwcollect and nepenthes(tools automatically collecting hostility sofware malwares ). This honeynet topology and the detailed explanation is are shown here. Additionally, the Artemis Project provides an experiment environment for the students to learn the network attack and defense skills. The virtual honeynet topology is shown here. • The Artemis Project PGP • Dr. Jianwei Zhuge Assistant Professor PGP
